December Doohickies Day 3

This one is going to be a short update. Yesterday, the woman that I am a caregiver for had to have an ambulance pick her up and take her to the ER. She's fine, had to have a minor surgery and is due to come home sometime today. I didn't read much yesterday obviously and kind of had to grab whatever food I could snag quickly.

Today is my day off from work, but with all that's bound to happen today I don't know how much actual reading time I'll be able to squeeze in.

I do have Friday off, so maybe that can be my designated reading day? She usually has her nurse visit then, but that's only an hour or so out of the day.

So there's my Day 2 update.

Today I will squeeze in as much reading as I can manage. I am exhausted though, I didn't get to bed until about 2:30am and got a text from her at about 5 something (was too bleary eyed to see for certain) letting me know how she was doing.

How's your December going so far?

See ya tomorrow!

Status Update

Well kiddos, I have had two major set backs in my blogging time. First...our ac unit..the MAIN one broke. The repair guy says it sounds like the motor. It will take a few days plus the weekend (and Labor Day) to get it here. So til then I am hot. Not the good kind of hot that every woman strives for, but sweaty in places that shouldn't be sweaty, wanting to sit in a cold bath, and putting ice down your shirt/pants, kind  of hot. We have fans, but those of you that are familiar with "Southern Heat" knows that a fan just circulates the hot. So I have been less inclined to do much of anything really.

So then there is the computer issue. Our older one (bless her heart she lasted almost 7 years!) finally quit us, leaving us in the lurch. I work online and since it was in between paydays we were forced to rent one. We finally scraped together enough cash to get a HP and were all happy and content, until that one started to overheat......Yup. Our new new computer went toe up too. So we had to take it back. We got another new one..that was a little cheaper and invested in a new power supply thingy. (My husband is the techie here not me, obviously!) So...that should settle us.

So here I be, sweltering until the repair guy comes. Trying to get some files transferred to the new computer, before we have to give the rented computer back and trying to maintain some cleaning and order when all I want to do is collapse and sleep until Winter!

A Very Grumpy Update

You know that post I made on Monday? The one with the long list of books I wanted to read and planned on reading, right? Well guess what? Nope, not gonna happen. I think I'm getting sick or something. I've been battling sleepy and feeling like crap for the last few days and it's really hindering my reading time! So needless to say, I am grumpy like Mr. Baby Spectacles up there ^! I hope this blows over quickly!

Snow!

*this is not my picture..but I wished it was! Isn't it purty?

Here in Alabama (northeast part) we are being told that we will get some major white stuff this weekend! Whereas, the kidlet is stoked beyond belief, the mommy is not quite so! I love to look at the pretty snow, but I hate hate hates with firey passion the cold! Winter is not my favorite season.

So why am I writing about this? Well, because I just want to give you all a heads up..if we get the snow we have been promised (about 6 inches in some parts OR MORE!!!) then chances are I'll loose internet. That's just how we roll here in the sticks! So if that happens, I won't be able to post. *weeping angels all around*

If it does snow and my internets goes down, then I can see a very productive reading weekend. That is as long as it's JUST the internet and not the power! Yay!

So have a wonderific weekend!

From Dusk Till Dawn Read-A-Thon Night 2

Well children, let me tell you a story about a girl with high hopes of plowing through Heresy in one night! It's not a bad book. It's really good so far! I had a brilliant idea last night after work. You see I work at home, and I stop working about 10pm. So I had the idea to take a bubble bath and read. Yup...I had it all planned out. Going to use my new bubble bath and read and soak. So relaxing, right? Well it was...I nearly fell asleep. I actually caught myself and barely managed to keep the book from taking a bath with me!

So, needless to say Heresy is still unfinished. SO that is what I'm reading tonight.

I may switch it up and read a bit from Heresy and a bit from one of the others on my list.

Anyway last nights stats where: about 45 minutes of reading time and about 75 pages of Heresy by S. J. Parris

From Dusk Till Dawn Read-A-Thon Night 1

What am I reading tonight? Well, I started on Heresy by S.J. Parris just a few minutes ago. I had lots of company today so I wasn't able to start any earlier. I plan on staying up a wee bit later than usual and reading into the night. I have to get up early so I won't be up too too late but I'll say til about midnight (cst.)

What are you reading? Have you signed up yet? Click on the button to join in the fun!

Read Your Own Books Read-a-Thon Update 3

Well yesterday I got to about half of The Replacement when I started to feel sick to my stomach. So I took it easy. Today I haven't really read much so far. I've gotten almost all of my Sunday stuff done so once it's all done I'm gonna sink in and read the rest of the book, then try and move on.

So my stats for yesterday are:

Read: about 2 1/2 hours, 162 pages

7 Years Ago Today....

...my Husband and I decided to make it legal and we got ourselves hitched! I love my sweet hunk of a man! :) We don't really have any special plans but that's okay! I'm going to cook him his favorite dinner and maybe watch a movie.

Happy Anniversary Sweetheart!

Read-A-Thon-Wrap Up!

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
I started to fade out at around 11pm but I kept chugging til about midnight.

2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
I'd have to say that so far there have been a few. The Passage by Justin Cronin was really good! A huge book but definitely kept me turning the pages!

3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
Didn't really stumble upon anything that would improve it. I loved the interaction and it's really well organized!

4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
Well I didn't do much but read so that was great :P

5. How many books did you read? 3

6. What were the names of the books you read?
The Passage, How Clarissa Burden Learned to Fly, and Keeper.

7. Which book did you enjoy most?
The Passage.

8. Which did you enjoy least?
Keeper was cute but it was definitely a children's novel, but it was a quick read!

9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?

10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
I'm DEFINITELY going to do it again! I love it! I may even try to do both reading and cheer leading, if I'm feeling adventurous!

My totals:

Books read: 3

Pages read: 1059

Time spent reading: about 15 ish..didn't really keep a good tally. It may have been less or a little more lol.

New Month!!!

zwani.com myspace graphic comments

March is here! I'm going to pretend that February didn't happen. I've seen other blog owners mention that they had a little bit of a slump last month and I do believe that was my case as well. I didn't get much reading done. This month however things in my personal life seem to be improving drastically!

I have to catch up on some review books and a couple of challenges but I think this month will be a good reading month! I'm ready for action!

Thankfully Reading Weekend Update 1

Well I haven't started reading just yet. I'm about to pop some popcorn, feed the kidlet, and get my book pile ready! I've got a few blog tour books to crack into but there are some of my own that are calling my name.

  • The Scottish Thistle-blog tour book
  • Samson's Walls-review
  • Just Breeze-blog tour book
  • Defenders of the Scroll-review book
  • Hades Daughter-bought book
  • Divorce Sucks-review book
  • Searching for Whitopia-review book
These aren't set in stone but what I'd like to get read. Several are very VERY thick so I probably will not get to those but I'll give it a try!

What's Up With That?

.....successful ingredients to a strong marriage......

I know my blog hasn't been all that active this last week. I have a really good excuse though! I do! My son AND my husband have been sick! We found out yesterday that the boy has Strep throat and probably the man does too. Awesome! I don't know what it is about men but they become babies if they are sick. So I have been taking care of two babies all week. The little man got a shot of good old penicillin so he should be good to go tomorrow (at least that's what the doctor says) and the big man says he's feeling better. So that's my excuse!

My blog isn't dead. I'm not done yet! I have plenty of Blog Tours for you coming up between now and December 16th! Six of them to be exact! Plus I'm planning a few little goodies here and there to spice up the holidays a bit! Next week I'll catch up with all the fun meme's I've been missing!

So that's me..hope you guys haven't quit me already! :)

Read-A-Thon Update: Pre-Event

Okay peoples I'm sooo very ready for this thing to start! I have warned my husband that the house is going to be a wreck for like a day and he'll probably have to cook for himself! I went shopping for snacks and drinks so I don't have to get up!

I'll have to add Alice (see what I'm reading now) to the list, because I haven't been able to finish it yet. Not that it isn't good I just have been randomly busy. So getting ready to count down.

Countdown!!!

*Sigh* Update

So...I was supposed to be reading Tamed by a Laird by Amanda Scott, but now I don't know if I will be able to finish it. Not because it's bad or anything but because my cat killed it. Seriously, my baby kitty Ears (5 year old named her) seems to think that the printer is her bed. The printer is on my desk and I have a tendency to spend a LOT of time at my desk, so I usually have a drink on it too. What does this have to do with anything? Well Ears is learning how to jump up and down on things and yesterday she succeeded. She jumped from the printer to the floor and on the way down clipped my cup with her tail and knocked it over. Spilling water on my keyboard, some paperwork, AND my book. The book is currently waterlogged but I'm crossing my fingers on it drying and not ripping. (Not sure how well this will go!) So sadly I am not sure right now if I will be able to finish it or not. The only thing I can do is move to the next book and let Tamed dry and hope.

Sunday Salon: Sunday July 26th

Books Read: (not as many as I'd liked)
-Ravens (reviewed)

Books Reading:
-A Darkness Forged In Fire-almost done.

Books Up Next:
-The Light of Burning Shadows (book tour on Tuesday)

Updates on my life:
Very exciting events are happening here! On Tuesday I have orientation for what could possibly be my first out-of-home job in almost 7 years! My son is starting Kindergarten in August. My husband is shifting his work schedule around and he is seriously considering getting back into karate. I have piles and piles of books that I need to read so I'm going to finish up these two blog tour books then spend a wee bit of time getting my books in order.

So there is my little weekly summary. Lots of changes coming up for me, and hopefully I can keep up!
