- I got a J-O-B! Yup! It's a work from home job and it's only part-time (for now) but yay I got work! We aren't too strapped but the extra $$ certainly helps! So that starts tomorrow night!
- My son has one week left til school starts then he begins the 1st grade! I have one week to get all his school supplies, get him a hair cut, and of course clothes shopping! The boy is growing like a weed!
- I got some new books! The Replacement, Princess of Glass, The Hot Box (I'm not sure, but I think this was sent to me by accident as I don't remember requesting it) The Wolf of Tebron, and The Book of Eli. I'll organize my TBR list sometime this week to include them.

Great News!
Hey guys! Guess what? Bill Walker's book A Note From and Old Acquaintance is now available on Kindle for $4.99! You can read my review of this wonderful book (HERE)!
Review: Damaged
Damaged: A Maggie O'Dell Novel by Alex Kava
I didn't know that this was part of a series. It didn't really matter because I wasn't lost at all! I actually found out as I was reading but that didn't stop me from loving this book! It's your typical crime drama, BUT it's well written and fun to read! I liked Maggie and thought she was a tough smart chick! I liked her from page one!The plot is a little complex but not unrealistic. The characters are well written and developed. You really get into it from the start, which I wasn't expecting. If you like CSI type shows and books that are similar then you will love this book! I'm definitely going to pick up a few of the other books in this series!

Review: Freaks and Revelations
Freaks and Revelations by Davida Wills Hurwin
Have you ever read a book that made you think about the way the world is? A book that makes you seriously pause for a moment to contemplate how you treat others? This is one of those books!
It was brutal and honest and thought provoking all at once. I loved it. It tackles the issue of hate crimes, homophobia, and racism. It's a pretty heavy subject and at times the book is rather bleak, but then there are the moments of hope that balance it out. The two characters in this book go through a lot of struggles and have to endure so much in such a short time it's a wonder they make it through life at all! I won't spoil the book but the ending is a great reminder of how humans can endure anything and still find happiness.
I cried, I cringed, and I couldn't stop reading. It's beautifully but brutally honest and well written. I highly recommend it.

Iron King Review
I had my moments of doubt with this book. At first, I thought that it reminded me too much of the movie Labyrinth (Which I love so so very much!) I kept reading though. I had read so many good reviews of this book and wanted to see what was the awesome about it. I found out! It's a great book! 'Nuff said right? Well I loved the fairies and I loved the world of the fey! They aren't sweet little tinkerbells and I'm so loving that! I love the characters too! It's not just all about the fey lovin! Meghan, Puck, and of course Ash..what a triad of fun?! I love the tension between Puck and Ash..of course they want to be Meghan's man..I can't wait to see who she picks..if she does in fact pick!
All aboard the Iron Fey Train!
*TOOT TOOT*......I am a new fan of Ms. Kagawa and will definitely be snagging me a copy of the Iron Daughter when it comes out in August.
I give it a 4/5 :)

Dear Readers:
I have a confession to make.
..I've been sucked into House of Leaves. I have been reading it all week and unfortunately letting my other reading selections sit on the back-burner! This book is GOOD but very intense. It's about 709 pages (my edition) and lots of footnotes. It's very confusing at times but still, awesome sauce! I cannot stop! It's like crack in book form!
So I apologize to the TBR Read-a-Thon and my read-a-longs for the fact that I've been a butt-head. I'm still planning on reading Northanger Abbey and Atlas Shrugged. I will probably just do it solo.
On another note, I received my necklace from Dakota's Personalized Gifts
and will host a giveaway! I'll post my review and the deets later on today and my reviews for the other books I've read!
Happy Friday peoples!

What am I Reading today?
Yup, I'm knocking this one out for the TBR Read-a-Thon! So far it's really kinda depressing but good. I hope that makes sense? I'll be writing all my reviews for this RaT on Friday and posting through the weekend!
Also, I'm still reading Northanger Abbey and House of Leaves! I'm debating on whether pulling out of the Atlas Shrugged Read-a-Long and just reading it solo after I'm done. I'm feeling kinda swamped. It's my own fault that I've signed up for all these reads, but I can't help it! Anyway, back to reading! :)

Five Questions Friday
1. Do you collect anything?
I basically only collect books. I know that's a boring answer but it's true!
I basically only collect books. I know that's a boring answer but it's true!
2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.
I love me some nerdy/funny men so my 3 would be: Cillian Murphy (28 days later,) Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Slither, Castle,) and Ryan Reynolds.
3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind it (them?)?
I was a tom-boy when I was younger so yeah I have tons of them. My biggest is the one on my thumb. I was riding in the back of my father's work truck and pretty much stabbed my finger with a broken piece of glass. Me being the tough chick I was I just pulled the glass out and wrapped my finger up in my shirt. I got home washed it and put a band-aid on it.

4. What is a food that you like to eat, but others might think it's gross or weird?
SUSHI! I love sushi with an unholy passion! I can scarf down a whole plate of that delicious stuff! Also, potato chips with ketchup and french fries with pickles on them.

5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life?
Yes I have. I count three times in my life that I've been close to a tornado. Once when I was about 20 and saw one form in a field that was opposite the road I was driving (I was driving alongside the twister as it formed,) one passed over my house and the wind from it clipped my satellite dish, and the last one was last year. We had to leave our house (we live in a mobile home) and went to a grocery store that was nearby. The store's windows were blown out and the floor was flooded. We had hail and the lights went out. It was scary!

Blog Tour: Day by Day Armageddon: Beyond Exile
Back Blurb (taken from Amazon.com)
The first book of Day by Day Armageddon took us deep into the mind of a military officer and survivor as he made a New Year's resolution to start keeping a journal. The man kept his resolution and brought to us the fall of humanity, day by day. We see the man transition from the life that you and I live to the prospect of fighting for his very survival against the overwhelming hordes of the dead. We see him bleed, we see him make mistakes, we witness him evolve. The highly anticipated sequel to the bestselling underground cult classic, Day by Day Armageddon begins where the first novel left off.
BEGIN INTERCEPT
Day by day, the handwritten journal entries of one man caught in a worldwide cataclysm capture the desperation--and the will to survive--as he joins forces with a handful of refugees to battle soulless enemies both human and inhuman from inside an abandoned strategic missile facility.
But in the world of the undead, is mere survival enough?
(edited by author)BEGIN INTERCEPT
Armies of undead have risen up across the U.S. and around the globe;there is no safe haven from the diseased corpses hungering for human flesh. But in the heat of a Texas wasteland, a small band of survivors attempt to counter the millions closing in around them.

My Review:
Dear sweet baby Jesus this was an awesome book! I finished it yesterday and had nightmares last night. Not because the book was bad but because it was SO good! The journal style gives it the feeling that you're living this with the main character! You feel the constant struggle for survival! The zombies are right there breathing (or not breathing actually, but you get the point!) down your neck!
There were tons of OMG!WTF! moments, like the creepy foggy bridge scene! Agh! That was tense! And a few others that would probably be considered spoilers, but you'll know which I'm talking about when you read this book, because this is one of those that you HAVE TO read! Seriously, pick up the first one and then read it through to the end of the second one! Good stuff man!
The ending was a bit of a surprise for me, but I'm curious to see what Mr. Bourne has in store for us in the next installment. I'm sure he has something up his sleeve!
All in all, this is a solid book. Very fun/nightmare inducing (but in a good way) book!

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon-Mini Challenge
Jenn at Book Crazy is hosting a Mini-Challenge for this Read-a-Thon and here is what she wants us to do:
She says: "Anyway, today I am excited to be hosting a mini challenge.... So, here's the deal... We all have a favorite book, right? We all have a favorite character, right? What I want you to do, since I am a lover of all things music and photo related is to pick one - or both - and put them together!!"
So here you go:
My favorite book would have to be The Hunger Games
and for the second answer here you go:
Katniss is just plain awesome as can be! I love that character! Here is who I "see" when I read the books.
Ellen Page would be awesome as Katniss! I think she's spunky and intelligent and would be perfect!
Also: Eddie Izzard would be awesome as Haymitch!
I always think that the song "Did My Time" by Korn really sums up how Katniss feels after the Games. She's just wanting to be left alone and feels like she's survived now she should be able to live her life.
Lyrics:
Realized I can never win sometimes feel like I have failed
Inside where do I begin? My mind is laughing at me
Tell me, why am I to blame? Aren't we supposed to be the same?
That's why I will never tame this thing thats burning in me?
I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me
Sometimes I can never tell if I got something after me
That's why I just beg and plead for this curse to leave me
Tell me, why am I to blame? Aren't we supposed to be the same?
That's why I will never tame this thing thats burning in me?
I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me
Betrayed
I feel so enslaved
I really tried I did my time
I did my time
I did my time
I did my time
I did my time
I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me
Oh God! the anger's changing me
Oh God! the anger's changing me
Well that wraps up my first challenge! :) That was kinda fun! Now I'm jamming out to Korn! Woot!

Update 1: (has some naughty words) June-26th- Now that I'm into the second part of this book I'll post my comments about the book so far. I really like this. I have never watched the movie and only vaguely knew what the story was about. The only thing I knew was that people kept telling me to read it! I'm glad I'm finally doing it! Scarlet is (so far) a stubborn brat that is manipulative and pouty! I kinda like her! So far I've gotten just a teaser of Rhett and all his bad boy charm. He seems (again so far) like an interesting character. Kinda cryptic and definitely a smug bastard! I felt so very sorry for Charles! Scarlet totally lost some points with me when she decided to turn her charms on him after the debacle with Ashley! She totally went full on bitch with him! Then she had that poor baby! Gah! Such a spoiled brat! Well now she's in Atlanta and the story continues...my next update coming soon!
Update 2:
So I'm up to the part where Scarlet goes back to Tara. The Yankees have made it to Atlanta and so they skeedaddled on out of there. I cannot for the life of me think of a good reason why I haven't read this book yet! I love it! Anyways, I really am confuddled..I'm not supposed to like Rhett am I? I was always under the impression he was a bastard? Hm..anyways, I am enjoying this book.

Review: The Secret (of Happiness)
Blurb:
Once upon a time, Max the billionaire invited David to his private island where whiz kid golden boys zip around the globe in private jets making millions and living the dream. But all may not be as golden as it seems. Max wants happiness. David wants his girlfriend back. Marcie just wants to avoid getting fired from her cashier job at Walmart. And the Guru knows the answers—or does he? Follow them on a wild roller-coaster ride through offshore paradises, out into space, over the Himalayas, across the Russian tundra, and through an evolutionary quantum shift to a final showdown in the Texas desert. The Secret of Happiness is a fast-paced, offbeat, fairytale thriller charged with suspense until the final word.
My Review:
This book took me by surprise! It really did. I wasn't sure what to expect. The description on the back seems interesting but then it kinda sounds like a few other books. I expected to read about the main character going through all sorts of life changes, having this wonderful opportunity presented to him, taking it, finding out he didn't really need it to be happy, etc. etc. Good grief was I wrong! I mean this book really pushed through my initial stereotyping and gave me something totally different!
David and Max are both well written and likable characters. Max is someone whom I expected to despise but I was hard pressed to find something about him that I didn't like? Hm ...how about he's rich and I'm not? David is flawed but even those flaws didn't stop me from liking him. The secondary characters are also well written. The threads connecting everyone and everything come together at the end to make a great book. The ending is perfect and definitely not where I thought the book was going. I won't spoil it but I loved the conclusion.
All in all this is a good read and I give it a rating of 4/5.

About Dakota's Personalized Gifts:
We started in a spare bedroom about 5 years ago more as a part time hobby than a business with The Anniversary Rose making roses for the traditional anniversary gifts (i.e. 1st year paper, 2nd year cotton, 5th year wood etc) cutting rose petals by hand with scissors. It quickly grew from a part time hobby to a full time business, adding help and equipment to keep up. Then, we started expanding into personalized anniversary gifts. We started getting many requests from our customers for personalized wedding, Mother’s & Father's Day and Christmas gifts etc. That's when we started Dakota's Personalized Gifts. Soon the business took over a second bedroom and the garage, the following year it occupying two bedrooms, the garage & a full basement. With no room left to expand we were forced to move into a commercial location in 2009. We continue to expand with new products and updated equipment all the time which allows us to produce most of the personalized items in house.
