August Antics

Welcome to August! I'm going to do my best to make this a very productive month. I have goals, I have the motivation, and I have the plans!

I'm aiming for at least 5 books read this month. 1 of which is going to be a Jane Austen novel.

This is what I have on deck as of now:

  • Persuasion
  • Emma
  • Dungeon Crawler Carl (finish)
  • The Count of Monte Cristo (just whittling through, not aiming to finish this month)
  • Carl's Doomsday Scenario (2nd book)
I probably will add a few more as I go along, these are just what's on my "menu" so as per restaurant rules...things are subject to change.

I am also looking to lose 5lbs by the end of the month. I think this is a doable goal, an easy one for a whole month. I'm starting out at 155lbs on August 1st.

I'm learning Spanish, teaching myself, so I am going to be doing that too this month. I have resources to help but any suggestions would be lovely! (Just kindly ask for free or at least very very cheap if you do make suggestions)

I'm also looking to save up as much money as I can. I'm looking to add a side gig (or two) and scrimp and save as much as I can.  I want to have at least 100 or so in savings by the end of the month.

The last goal I have for the month of August is to be more active here on my blog. I'm looking to get some reviews up. I'll post at least once a week to keep things moving and to check in on my goals.

What are you lovely humans doing this month?

Update! My lovely friend Michelle is hosting an all month long event with a 24 hour readathon smack dab in the middle of the month! I'll be joining (and maybe doing at least part of the readathon!) so why don't you check it out!

Check In

So how have you all been? Me, I've been all over the place mentally. Lately, I've been wanting to do the things but not finding the energy to actually do them. Starting on things and then putting them down. It's not been fun. I don't like to get political or whatever, but the state of the world lately has really pressed down hard on me mentally. I've kind of checked out and tuned out without any real progress on my goals. Reading, studying and working out hasn't really seemed important in the grand scheme of things, but I know that's not good for my mental health at all. I can only change the things that I can change and I have to remember that.

So I'm trying to "force" myself out of the slump. Out of the fog that I've found myself in and try to get back to focusing on my goals and what I would like to achieve this year.

So for the next few weeks I'm going to get back on a work out routine, focus on improving my diet and meal prepping, reading (and writing reviews again..still have several to do!), and studying. I want to take the exam to get my certifications, so I'm going to brush up on my studies and hopefully do the exam mid to late this year. I also want to become decently knowledgeable in Latin (started studying last year and kind of puttered out, so picking that back up).

I want to aim for 30 books read this year.

I want to become more fit and lose about 25 pounds.

So how are y'all doing? Are you hitting your goals so far?  How many books have you read by now?

Most importantly..HOW ARE YOU FEELING?

December Doohickies Day 4

Look at me go! So things should be settling down and returning back to sorta normalcy. She's back home from the hospital and getting settled in. Her nurse will be visiting her to check in sometime today and I have work later, but in the middle of the day I have plenty of "spare time" to use to read.

I'm going to be meal prepping some foods and a bit of tidying up and of course taking care of the lady but I think I'm going to aim for an hour or two of reading in total today.

I am going to do a mini readathon tomorrow. I'm thinking I'll aim for 10-12 hours total reading time tomorrow. I have plans for the night so it'll be day reading a bunch.

Still reading Mistborn and A History Of Women in America. I'm going to try to finish AHoWiA tomorrow.

December Doohickies Day 2

How's it going ya'll? This isn't gonna be a long post or anything, but yesterday went swimmingly. I got my 2 hours of reading in, finished my to do list and stuck to my goals for exercise and diet. So good on me!

Today I didn't do the treadmill but I did some stretches and have been on my feet a lot already. I'm about to have my breakfast and get some reading started up.

Mistborn is hooking me in and I'm really enjoying it. My kindle told me I started out with a bit over 15 hours of read time and I finished up with a little over 11 hours left (not sure how that translates to pages). So I take that as a win too!

I also did some reading in my other book, History of Women in America. That's a more "thinky" kind of book so it is slow going but very very interesting! I am liking Mistborn (first in the series) so much I went ahead and got the next two books!

It's a cold, wet day today so I don't know how my energy is going to hold out but I'm going to do my best to stay on this streak!

Tomorrow I have the day off so I am going to really really focus on reading!

I hope you all have a wonderful day and "see" you tomorrow!

Welcome To June

This is a new month and I'm going to be getting my shit together! That's what I'm shouting into the universe and hopefully it'll stick! (And not onto something icky) I have goals for my finances, my personal interests, and my fitness. I have a lovely stack of books that I want to read and will aim to finish by the end of the month.

So with that being said here is my (as of now) TBR stack for the month of June

  • Throne of Glass
  • Crown Of Midnight
  • Heir of Fire
  • Queen of Shadows
  • Empire of Storms
  • Tower of Dawn
  • Kingdom of Ash
  • Elegance and Evil (review book)
  • A Fig for All the Devils
  • Silver Elite
A few of those are CHONKY but I do think I can get through them. I have a few more that are kind of sitting on the sidelines that have my interest but I'm not sure yet.

I'm also participating in the Sci-Fi Summer Readathon hosted by Seasons of Reading. I think most, if not all of my selections for June fit into the category (you can read Fantasy as well).

So give that banner thingy a clicky and join us!

For the rest of my goals, I'm hoping to be able to sock away a few hundred into my savings account. So I'll be working my main job and a lil side gig that I have to help with that.

My fitness goal, I want to lose about 5-10lbs, walk 10k steps (6 out of the 7 days of the week), and get better sleep.

I also want to focus on my garden, getting it looking pretty again and planting more seed babies into the ground (IF IT WOULD STOP RAINING FOR ONE WHOLE MINUTE!)

I also have a story that I've gotten started on, I have a handful of chapters down and want to get back into it and plop down more. So I might add a word goal per day, but I don't know.

So what are you reading for June? What are your goals for life or whatever you are thinking about?

Lemme know!
